Montessori Language Skills
This area teaches pre–reading skills (such as categorizing, rhyming, beginning sounds, letter recognition, and classification) that the child will use to be a successful reader. Many of the skills gained in the previously mentioned areas are direct preparation for reading and writing. The Language area of the Montessori classroom uses the tactile-memory to ultimately create phonetic usage of the letters of the alphabet. A child will gain the skills necessary to express his/her own thoughts (writing), as well as to understand the written expressions of others.
