Montessori Elementary Program for Ages 6 to 9

Our bright, thoughtfully designed Elementary classroom features large windows that fill the space with natural light and give students a clear view of the outdoors as they work. This peaceful environment encourages concentration, curiosity, and a meaningful connection with nature.

The Elementary classroom brings together children between the ages of 6 and 9, generally covering first through third grade. This multi-age setting allows younger students to learn by observing their older classmates, while older students strengthen their understanding by helping and encouraging others. Together, students build a respectful classroom community based on cooperation.

During the elementary years, children begin developing important academic and life-management skills. They learn how to organize their time, complete assignments, meet reasonable deadlines, and take greater responsibility for their education. Teachers provide clear lessons and thoughtful guidance while giving students enough independence to manage their daily work.

Dr. Maria Montessori recognized the importance of allowing children to experience success as they learn how to respond to challenges. A challenge may be as simple as needing more time to complete a lesson or revisiting a difficult concept. New responsibilities are introduced gradually so children can build confidence without feeling overwhelmed.

At this level, students begin moving from concrete learning experiences toward abstract thinking. They use the knowledge developed during their earlier Montessori years to explore subjects in greater depth, recognize connections, ask thoughtful questions, and strengthen their reasoning skills.
